World Kindle: Amazon launches the publication of "fan fiction" - Clubic.com

Amazon has launched Kindle Worlds, a new element in the Kindle ecosystem, which allows amateur writers (or not) to publish fiction inspired by existing franchises. A well rehearsed on paper approach.

On the Internet, “fanfiction” means stories generally written by amateur authors, inspired universes existing in parallel and informal telling stories. This trend, which has been a long time, was previously reserved mainly for other sites and forums bringing together fans of film franchises, television series, novels or video games. But now it takes with Amazon and Kindle Worlds.

New service, launched on Wednesday in the United States at first, allows authors to fanfiction based on certain licenses, to offer for sale on the platform Amazon Publishing. The retailer, which serves here as a publisher, will ensure that the publication complies with certain conditions – mixtures of such franchises are prohibited, as are the stories of a sexual nature – and donate royalties to beneficiaries partners licenses .

Amazon reserves the right to fix the price of the publication, which will be located between 0.99 and 3.99 dollars. The editor adds that for a publication of 10,000 words, 65% of this amount will be returned to the author, who is legally in return for the fee paid to the beneficiaries.

Among the licenses to open this type of publication, there is at present Pretty Little Liars , Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries , TV series targeted primarily at women, whose rights are owned by Warner Bros..

time public, Amazon reserve this service in the USA, without specifying whether the account open to other countries. I bet that the rights to be complicated to manage, and the e-tailer has gauge interest for this new before exploring other territories.
