Amazon Kindle tests distributors in airports - Retail Detail Belgium

Amazon has launched a pilot project rather surprising: vending machines, selling Kindle devices and their accessories have been installed in various airports and shopping centers. For now Amazon is satisfied reactions.

At a time when many physical retailers start their own online store and where some e-tailers, as Coolblue for example, are the opposite approach by opening physical outlets, Amazon also seems to be moving more and closer to omni-channel. Previously the e-tailer had already opened some temporary stores for there to discover the Kindle products and where these ATMs were already present.

Now Amazon went further and installed dispensers at various locations in the U.S. without integrating them into a pop-up store. “We are very pleased with the feedback we have had from customers so far and we are very pleased to offer customers a simple way to get accessories, e-readers or tablets Kindle” Amazon confided a spokesman for GeekWire.

Amazon’s choice for these vending fits perfectly into the philosophy of e-tailer, which is always looking how to increase margins and automate as much as possible, as for example in its distribution centers. It is still too early to draw conclusions about the success of this new marketing method. The fact is that buying an expensive device via a distributor seems less obvious to the consumer for cheaper products.
