The Kindle Paperwhite 2013 has made its appearance in the United States, and of course, the first testers gave their first impressions before their full tests.
Their comments were very expected on the new reading light. While overall, little has changed (we have the opportunity to come back), attention was mainly focused on the new screen. The integrated lighting seems to have been really optimized, but the new Carta E-Ink screen has impressed one yet.
An improvedintegrated lighting
The sites are less unanimous on one thing: the integrated lighting, considered unconvincing for the previous version has been improved. Smoother (there would still be some differences between the areas of the screen), brighter, it gave rise to some more or less successful comparative photos that show a better screen on the new version.
In my case, I still think that if the integrated lighting function is a major development, the differences between screen technologies are taken into account, but are not large enough to make a decisive choice. Some e-readers are better than others, but once you stop to look for defects and you start reading, it is no longer any attention at all.
A new screenCarta not so attractive that?
New Carta screen does not seem to be the revolution that some expected. It would still be a little more even whiter than the previous version.
That shows that the new Carta screen will not be as one might imagine a key differentiator between the various e-readers on the market. Kobo, Sony, Bookeen and others will thus be able to sleep peacefully: Kindle Paperwhite will therefore not ridicule their machines with this new screen
.
question is whether this is a disproportionate expectation that created this disappointment or if the screen is actually almost identical to the previous HD Pearl. It will take a step back to see if they all agree on this point.
Kindle Paperwhite compete
The new screen Kindle Paperwhite not finally seems to be the secret weapon that will tip the scales in favor of Amazon. This year, the difference will be as always the price, but also on the image of the brand, in-store presence, catalog, services or ergonomics.

On these points, the Kindle Paperwhite has something to fight for equal ground with his opponents, and Amazon should use as usual foremost argument price. Just look on the side of Germany to be convinced. Not only the basic Kindle is now available at 49 €, but premium members can benefit from the Kindle Paperwhite for 99 € using the appropriate discount code.
We are waiting now to see the reading light in France, where the match between the different actors will be tight against a Kobo Aura certainly more expensive but very attractive to a PocketBook Touch Lux at the same price and has just announced a major partnership in France, reading lamps Sony (PRS-T3) less innovative on paper, but that still has its place (especially if Offer PRS-T3S € 99 was not limited to Germany), and a Bookeen will also provide an informed model to 99 €.
