Amazon appears to be preparing to launch new Kindle e-readers. On the German version of Amazon, you can see a new e-reader called “Kindle Voyage” with a screen resolution of 6 inches high (300 ppi) and a release date set at November 4. A picture of the Kindle Travel is available (below, from the user manual), and the blog Caschy successfully captured the technical specifications of the new e-reader.
According to the specs, there could be a new sensor to turn pages without pressing the slab touch. Another difference with Paperwhite, the reading light should carry a “ Intelligent Lighting ‘, allowing a lighter lighting for easier reading.
While Amazon quickly pulled the plug the device at its German catalog, it seems that the Kindle Travel is available on 3G and Wi-Fi Amazon Japan versions. (Google cache) list the device with a thickness of 8 mm and weighs 186g, which means that the reading light is thinner and lighter than the Paperwhite. There is no evidence whether the Kindle Travel eventually replace the Paperwhite or whether it is simply an e-reader upscale. Amazon Kindle showed that travel would be sold at 189 euros, and the 3G version at $ 249, an increase of EUR 109 compared to the Paperwhite and 169 € compared to the 3G version.
