Kindle, a thermometer which is an oven – Actualitté.com

We sometimes forget, because of its own ecosystem, but the Kindle family, for devices with electronic ink, running under the Linux operating system. A shame, of course, Linux is still a model of openness and anti-property, but either. A [John] on hackaday site decided to recycle its ebook reader.

class=”p1″> [John] was in fact recalled that the OS can use sensors that contains the Freescale processor, … to measure the temperature. Since it is useless, most of the time, it can therefore serve as thermometer, and assess the ambient temperature.

class=”p2″>

class=”p1″> In sum, some small tools are needed, and we would obviously consider a hack – which is totally reversible. Suffice it to create a thermometer directory under / mnt / us and install the files. To have an ideal temperature measurement, based on electronic ink, then you are on the right track.

class=”p2″>

Some scripts will conduct an audit of the temperature every minute, and display large on the screen. The buttons are then used to convert the measurement of temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius. It is also possible to display a graph of the change of temperature.

class=”p2″>

class=”p1″> Note, however, every reason to believe that this is the temperature of the Kindle that is displayed – here a model Paperwhite – jailbroken beforehand. And not that of your environment. It may make a little warmer inside of your machine than you …

We will find all the software needed to address elements.
