Kindle Paperwhite: an update without Freetime or GoodReads in France - CNETFrance

For owners of the Kindle Paperwhite who expected to see the arrival of the new Freetime and GoodReads their reading light, these features are not available in France. Collections are now against synchronized in the cloud.

Some eagerly awaited the new Kindle Paperwhite features were not present at the output of the new reading light. They had fortunately been announced for the next update of the reading light. Thus, the adaptation of the Freetime reading light (for children), deep integration of GoodReads, giving access to so-called social features, and Cloud collections, to synchronize collections between different devices were announced as imminent.

In the end, disappointment for those waiting for these new features: Freetime as GoodReads are not available in France. The Cloud collections, especially those interested read their Kindle books on several devices are available against well after the update.

The novelty: the Cloud collections

For a long time, it is possible to create a Kindle reading light collections to organize his books. Since last September, it is also possible to organize collections on devices running iOS, following the passage of the application in version 4, for the launch of iOS

7.

With Cloud collections, it is possible to go further by synchronizing your collections between your different devices, if you have. A Cloud collection update on your smartphone and available on your tablet and reading light, and it works from any device, so almost instantaneously. This has of course useful if you use multiple devices, and you avoid recreating these collections for each device. With the update of the Kindle Paperwhite, this synchronization is also available on the reading light.

compatible devices with this feature Cloud are: Paperwhite Kindle, Kindle Fire HD, HDX Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 “and the Kindle app for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. For now, it is not possible to organize its collections by the same collections in magazines, books or newspapers or blogs.

I tested the new. No need to look for new menu collections are simply synchronized without your intervention. So I created a new collection on Kindle Paperwhite freshly updated for testing, and this new collection is immediately appeared on applications for iPad and Kindle Fire HDX, but not on the Android version, which does not yet support collections.

It only remains to hope that future updates will give access to Freetime, which is not always available either on Kindle tablets in France, and features GoodReads. The update will be given in all OTA (automatically) case, but if you do not want to wait, you can install it manually and easily by following the directions on this page, which will give you all the information.
