The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is on the very interesting paper: an original design, very powerful components and a great rate. What be a good option for high-end Android tablet. Remains to be seen if Amazon has changed its software policy.

We have a complicated relationship with the Amazon Android tablets. On one side the shelves as the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 generally offer a very good quality equipment at a reduced price but the other uses over its shelves as a sales portal than anything else. A point which becomes quite critical when it comes to devices that still worth several hundred euros.
original and neat design
Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 does not change the recipe used for the first generation. Found an original angular design and finish of the highest level. If the coating gum does not necessarily appeal to everyone, it is clear that it is perfect for grip, with a thickness and low weight and well-placed buttons (a bit small). Amazon has kept the design of its tablet, even if it has some regrets, as no player micro SD card. Note that Amazon offers a range of covers and accessories complete and fairly well thought, which is rare enough to be mentioned.
Amazon has dropped on the screen: the 8.9-inch IPS panel is in effect with a higher resolution than WQHD (2560 x 1600). It is very well calibrated and offers high contrast while being bright enough to be legible at all times. That’s all good on this point, then. Once is not custom, photo sensor is doing quite well. The picture quality is decent, although the simple format of the tablet that you do not go use it as main camera. Side once again we met her with two speakers rather balanced and especially well placed to not be covered by the hands of the user. The headphone output on the other hand lacks a bit of power.
software policy that cringe
Under the hood a powerful quad-heart Snapdragon 800 found. The same quad-heart clocked at 2.23 GHz team most high-end smartphones moment. The performances are excellent. With Android which works perfectly smooth despite the overlay applied. Indeed Amazon replaces almost completely the basic Android interface with a much darker design that highlights its various shops. Sure everything works well and is easy to use but the fact is that the flexibility and customization opportunities that are interest Android is lost. The Play Store is not available and we must be content with the Amazon App Shop. The latter is provided (and offers an app per day), but some essentials, such as Google Apps (Gmail, Google Maps …) are missing for subscribers. Still, one can not help but find that the tablet is only there to sell content on music services and book certainly very successful, Amazon. In France the offer is not even complete because all the VOD component is missing … Last ashamed: Amazon continues to pay 15? the removal of “special offers” (ads into your screensavers …) which is a bit much on a device that is still 380? in its 16GB version!
Kindle Fire Amazon HDX 8.9: yes, but …
HDX 8.9 Amazon Kindle Fire tablet is a good, very powerful, pretty and well designed. Unfortunately the software policy Amazon is for us still invasive. From the boring (no Google Apps) to foutage of mouth in good and due form (15? For getting rid of the pub) this policy lost some points to the tablet. It’s a shame, because we are in the presence of a very good material, but go your way. Competition does well while allowing more freedom of your choice you. And you will still have access to Amazon services via apps.
